Protection tools, with clear Windows status
Microsoft Defender provides malware detection and remediation. Shield brings its controls together with local monitoring and maintenance. Settings remain subject to Windows policy and availability.
- Malware scans and threat removal through Microsoft Defender, with scan outcomes and errors shown in the app.
- Real-time protection and Windows Firewall settings, with status read back from Windows.
- Ransomware canaries that monitor local decoy files and report changes. These alerts do not independently block ransomware.
- Microsoft Exploit Guard attack surface reduction rules, applied explicitly from Behavior Shield.
- Defender Network Protection settings and a domain block list. Shield does not inspect encrypted page contents.
- On-demand Defender scans of local mail, attachment-cache and download folders.

If Defender or a Windows status source is unavailable, Shield reports that condition. The dashboard summarizes observed settings; it is not a guarantee that a PC is threat-free.

Run temporary-file cleanup, SFC and DISM checks or repairs, DNS cache refresh, and print-queue maintenance from the tools page. Each operation explains what it does before you run it.
Prefetch cleanup is a separate advanced choice. Repairs and printing changes require confirmation, and administrator access where Windows requires it.
The app shows progress and the reported outcome. Detailed Windows output is available when you need it.
